DWM 5/21 and Hands 2 Help

What a wonderful weekend.  Didn't get a whole lot of sewing in, but definitely some.  And plenty of time spent at the bloggers sprint quilt festival (see side button).  This year they have categories and you can enter 2 quilts - twice the fun, twice the inspiration!  Seriously, ya gotta go check it out.  Amazing.

I worked on Hands 2 Help quilt number 3 this weekend.  The zig zag quilt.  I had 4 charm packs plus or minus a few, mostly minus.  I just wasn't pleased with the size it need a border.  I didn't have anything by charms of or smaller of the solid fabrics and honestly not a whole lot of those either. So I added this border but not sure that I'm completely sold on it.  I still have the girl version to go as well which has the same minus issue.   Hmmmm, have to think about this one a bit more.  But I'm not going to buy more of the pezzy fabrics. Why is it that when you try to use what you have, you have to buy something more??
And I worked on Plaid Obsession #2.  I'm not longer obessed, I need to get these plaids out of the sewing room.  The part of the sewing room that you don't see, looks like someone threw up plaid strings!!  Gotta get this last one done.

  1. Both quilts are very effctive - I think that zig-zag looks good as your border - I know the frustration of trying to use up stash but having to buy more in order to use it!! Doesn't quite make sense!!! The non-obsessed plaid blocks look great - I would like ot see more of them!!

  3. I think the border looks great...it is keeping with your very modern quilt. Beautiful! Your plaid blocks look very interesting...I like what I see with the sashing and 9-patches!

  4. Both projects are great. As for using up scraps....that's impossible because scraps multiply rather than diminish....sigh!

  6. The chevron is very effective with the light interior and darker border. Great job!

  8. I sure hear you on needing to buy something to use up stash/scraps. I seldom seem to have what is needed to use up some fabric. Bummer. Like your blocks and the quilt looks so with it!
