I'd like to welcome the sweet little Mr Smiles (Miles) who arrived on Friday morning, just in time for the weekend. Isn't he adorable???? Goodness, he's just filled with all sorts of sweetness! He's been here such a short amount of time and already he has so many people that love him! The quilt in my header, it's his :) Welcome Smiles! Now that's something to Whoop about!!
I didn't get to go see him today cuz I have a fever, dang it! But I did get to sew and I was able to finish my Orca Bay quilt. Ok so am I terrible? I want to keep it and not give it to someone for a house warming gift. Instead I want to give them Modern Mirrors, which I thought was really more appropriate for a young modern family. I'm just trying to justify it aren't I?? Ok, here's the last look at Orca Bay. I even tried a picture out in the snow. I did an overall feather in the center and feathers in the small border all the way around. Feather and swirls in the last border. No marking anywhere! Although I should have marked the small border.
And the Labyrinth top is together, now to plan the quilting for that one....
Linking up with Sarah, there's always something going on over there, lots of whoopin.
Linking up with Bonnie. You REALLY have to stop there and see all the finished Orca Bay quilts, goodness they are gorgeous!!

Oh, Sue - priceless little one! And I don't blame you for keeping the Orca - quilting is super. I seriously want you to do a quilt for me - when your time is freer - enjoy the wee one.
ReplyDeleteYour Orca Bay quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMiles is adorable. Babies are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteYour Orca Bay is absolutely beautiful. I agree the modern quilt would be much more appropriate for a young family! LOL
Gorgeous, Sue AND, Miles is precious! Dottie
ReplyDeleteMiles is a sweet miracle! And the Orca Bay quilt looks fabulous! I wanna keep it! :O)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, and welcome Miles! Oh, your Orca Bay is so gorgeous. I would have a hard time parting with it too. Lovely quilting!
ReplyDeleteOh I just love the quilt for the grandson and also the Orca Bay too of course. Super work on both Sue.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! What a cutie pie. Your quilt is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteYou will always hate yourself if you give your Orca Bay away because it means so much to you. Give the young couple a nice modern quilt and they will be delighted and so will you. The baby is a dearling!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! The quilt too! (I'd have justified keeping Orca to all and sundry..... you've really done a good job on the quilting). The colours are divine.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Smiles! I really like your colors on Orca. I also used green too but mines looks different (besides not quilted yet) than yours. Take a look when you can.
ReplyDeletewww.grannyanne-mysmallspace.blogspot.com. Tell me what you think. I am hoping to get done before link up but not too sure that will happen. Oh well, it is the journey not the race, right?
LOVe LOVE LOVE your Orca Bay! The quilting is magnificent. .
ReplyDeleteI FORBID you to give it away. . no matter HOW much you lovE these people. . . You should ALWAYS KEEP Bonnie's mysteries. . because her quilts are made out of little pieces of you. . .all the fabric scraps you have used in past quilts. . noone .NOONEEEE will appreciate it as much as you. I either GIFT or SELL ALL my quilts EXCEPT for Bonnie's mysteries.
Also. . Miles is a dollbaby. My friend Tiffany just had a baby a few weeks ago and she named him Miles also!
Great name!
Miles is just adorable. Love your Orca Bay. I say keep it. Love the colors you've chosen.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the newest member of your family. I'm sure he will love his quilt!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! He is so precious! Your Orca Bay is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOf all the Orca Bays I have seen I love yours the best - truly beautiful. I can only echo Katies comment and hope that you keep this for yourself. I love Bonnies quilts and have made several - including 2 mysteries and they are really special. Best wishes xxx
ReplyDeleteYour little Miles is beautiful, I have a 3 month old Camille, and these little babies are priceless.
ReplyDeleteI'd say keep Orca Bay, your quilting is superb, and nobody will love it as much as you do, so keep it and love it. Carolyn/France

Sue your quilt is absolutely beautiful - wish I had thought to use bles and greens! And your feather quilting great too. And NO - don't give it away - Bonnie's quilts are a LOT of work but we love every minute of it - no one who doesn't quilt wouldn't appreciate it as much! And lastly, enjoy that new grandson! A beautiful quilt! The baby and the quilt are both keepers!
ReplyDeletebeautiful quilt, I don't think I could give it away neither. Miles is adorable I bet you can't wait to hold him.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is just beautiful. I love your blue and green! I'm still working on mine. Miles is adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in your Orca Bay, it's so fun to see a quilt in so many different colors. Your quilting is beautiful and I agree with many of your other commenters in that no one will love it as much as you. Since you have another appropriate quilt ready I'm sure they will love it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on beautiful baby.
Beautiful baby! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYour OB is gorgeous too! I love the colors! Awesome job on the quilting!
Oh, your Orca Bay quilt is absolutely gorgeous. Blue and green is one of my favorite combinations and I've been wondering about that combo for OB. Yours is the first one I've seen, and I'm blown away! Just gorgeous. Love the scrappy fabrics you chose too. Your quilting is exquisite. Honestly, I think you should keep it. Who knows if that young couple could ever appreciate it enough? How would you feel if you saw them using it to pack around their furniture when they move? Or thrown on the wet ground for a concert? Don't know they will do that, but might if they don't have appreciation for such handwork. Oh, keep it. And that baby is so beautiful too! Hope you get well soon so you can get you some "fat sugar"! (That's what my father called it when he needed to get his "baby fix" with a quick visit and holding of the grandbaby.)
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning. I LOVE the quilting and LOVE LOVE LOVE the pieced back! Keep it! - Shelley in CT
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Such a cutie!
ReplyDeleteI think Modern Mirrors is definitely a better fit for a young hip couple. Your Orca Bay is stunning. The only way I would ever part with a quilt like that would be ......um.....never!
OB is just beautiful! The colorway, the quilting, the back. And Smiles/Miles is beautiful, too--congratulations to your whole family.
ReplyDeleteIf the couple would truly appreciate OB, then give it to them...but if the other quilt would satisfy them, I'd give that.
The new baby is precious! I love his quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour orca bay is gorgeous too. I think it would be fine to keep it. I made a very simple modern quilt for my family's gift exchange and everyone "fought" over it. I think you deserve to keep the one you worked so hard on.

Sue, the owl quilt you made for your grandson, is it a pattern you designed or was it designed by someone else? I would like to have this pattern. Could you share the information with me?
ReplyDeleteMartha
You are too hard on yourself. Your quilting is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh, Sue, Miles is just beautiful!! Sorry you couldn't play with him because of your fever, but he'll be little for a while longer.... Your Orca Bay is spectacular, and I don't blame you for wanting to keep it! And I really like the Labyrinth quilt - very cool! Whoop whoop!!
ReplyDeleteLittle Smiles is simply adorable Sue!! Congrats to the family!! You'll enjoy him! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour Orca Bay is wonderful Sue!! I love your color choices, and your quilting is awesome!! Good for you! I'd keep it if I were you... ;)
Miles is already so handsome!
ReplyDeleteYour Orca quilt is lovely. Love it with the green.
The quilting is just perfect on Orca Bay, I think it takes a great pattern and makes it "dresser". really nice job!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course who can resist ahhhhing over a new born!
Happy Sewing

ReplyDeletefabulous, your beautiful quilting has toned down a very busy quilt and made it look classy.

ReplyDeleteIf you love it you should keep it. We make quilts and give them away and for it's time to keep one.
