Design Wall Monday

Sea Glass
I was sick most of the week with a kidney infection so not as much sewing as usual.  I was literally in bed for 3 days waiting for  those antibiotics to start working, this was after a double dose in the emergency room.  Can't remember the last time I spent that much continuous time in bed.  But never fear, those antibiotics came to the rescue and I was able to get some sewing done on Saturday.  Now that really is what made me feel better :)
Sea Shards

I finished Sea Glass.  This is my project fo the Jan Color Palette Challenge.   I know I'm a little behind :) I also did  a little work on the left over strings.  I cut up all the scraps I had with these colors and getting two quilts out of it.  This one I'm call Sea Shards since it's the left overs from the glass.  There was a tiny little problem.  Only enough shards for 19 blocks.  Dang it and I thought they were going on forever.  So I made another block.  Kinda like what I thought the fish might see if there were a beautiful sunset.  Ya, that's all I could come up with - hey I've been sick :)  If you have any ideas on what to do with that last block, let me know. I'm just doing a simple grey sashing all the way around and then a 3 inch border.   It's not easy trying to use up those  scraps.

Swoon Blocks
And last, I did get two more Swoon blocks done.

  3. Lovely pieces Sue - the pallettes are so similiar you can use the string quilt for Feb. Take care of yourself - sometimes so rest time is truly what we need.

  6. Despite the infection (thank goodness for modern medicine!) you have a lot to show. Love the colors in Sea Glass and its string companion. I never caught the origin of the Swoon blocks but it's been interesting to see all of those that bloggers have made. Hope this week is healthier!

  7. Love your quilts. Not sure about that extra block. If it were me, I would put that one aside and let it rest for a while so an idea would come out of nowhere and be perfect. Maybe even an applique or something.

  8. I'm glad you are feeling better. 3 days in bed is like eternity when you can't do anything. Continue to get well.
I love Sea Glass and I love that out of the box block in Sea Shards. It made me smile. :)

  10. Golden stars for using up those scraps rather than putting them away. I wonder if it takes longer to make a quilt or to put them away?? Both quilts are fun... I was thinking of something in yellow/green to mix in with the blocks... is there some traditional block that has a fishy sounding name or such? Just a thought...

  11. What great quilts! LOVE that 'odd' block in the second quilt--just the right color! Boy, you sure do like small pieces, don't you?! AND, you get more done after 3 days in bed than most of us with all 7 days! Sorry you were sick but glad the meds worked.

  19. So much to be glad about in your post. So glad the antibiotics kicked in and made you better. Love the two Sea quilts - the quilting in Sea Glass is great and love the light block in Sea Shards - a great idea for the 20th block. And lastly, those wonderful swoon blocks. I'm going to have to make some of those. Thanks for the eye candy.

  22. I like your fish eye block. I might move it lower and to the right, but it adds a very interesting pop of color to an already beautiful quilt.

  23. Love your sea glass quilt - so colorful. Definitly reminds me of the glass I used to find on Miami Beach. I'll have to think of making myself one in those yummy colors!
