Has really been almost a year since my last post???

Oh boy, it has been a long time. Sure hope I remember how to do this!  So, what's been going on since June of 2016?  Sold the house, got a new one.  I started a new job.  Now we're all settled in the new job, settled in the new house and I *finally* got to break in the new sewing room.  Part of me loved the space at the old house so much that it was really hard to get started, but that's all behind me now.  Spending time in the new space was like catching up with a good friend that you have seen in a while.  Ok, here's what I got done.....see I've been doing stuff :)

New Sewing room,

New little toy for the long arm, I really don't like Pantographs and this makes the edge to edge to much more bearable!  Oh the precision of this little guy....

And here's what that new toy can do - look at those swirling hexies, I never could have done that hand guided.  The pantograph is Honeycomb by Patricia Ritter, batting is Hobbs 80/20, thread is glide

This is Megan's first quilt, we made this about 2 years ago, boy and I'm finally getting it quilted.  At least it got done before she started high school.  Pantograph is Daisy Doodle by Patricia Ritter, batting is hobbs polydown and thread is glide.  The circles, oh so nice.

The back, sure hope that hot pink flannel doesn't run.

This is a quilt that our group made last year for charity quilts, just now starting to get them quilted.  The fabrics shot cottons, love how they look up close.  Pantograph is spinning rays by Jessica Schick, another one I never could have done hand guided.  Batting is Hobbs Polydown, thread is Superior So Fine.

Love the back

Of course I would much rather be doing the hand guided free motion quilting which is exactly what I did on Veronika's t-shirt quilt for her daughter.

Bottom Line thread top and bottom, free motion quilting and a little bit of ruler work, Hobbs 80/20 batting

So good to be quilting again!!  Just something about creating something that melts all the stress away.  Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day.

Happy Memorial Day ! And Hands 2 Help wrap up

We had our final session of Hands 2 Help wrap this saturday which was my birthday, what a great way to start a birthday huh?    These amazing ladies finished up 5 tops, I'm letting Meghan keep hers, it was  her first top.  So the totals are here 9 tops completed, 4 tops waiting to be quilted.  6 tops for Happy Chemo.  6 tops for Sage Cancer Center and 1 top for Relay for Life auction - freaking amazing.  What's even more amazing is that all this came from fabric stash, even the backings, and you can even telll :(  Here's some pics
final session of Hands 2 Help drive for us in Mchenry - great start with flowers and Mimosas - love these ladiess

This one will be donated to Relay for Life that my niece runs in our area.  I plan on bringing this one home from the auction, I think I can get it for under 250.
Meghams first quilt, she gets to keep it, what fun!!

Anna' first attempt at the long arm, she did GREAT!!

Veronika's jelly roll, love this with the ombre jelly roll.

here we are with all the nine quilts that are finished 4 more to quilt

Love these ladies and all the help - 3 more quilts will be delivered than planned!!

This definitely got us started

And we're in Washington DC for a few days checking out baby girl Daurio's new neighborhood (she moves out here the July 4th weekend)   We stopped at the portrait museum which was on my must see list and directly across from the hotel (hmmmm how did that happen).  Amazing portraits of the presidents - Lincolns just filled me pride and emotion.  There was also a quilt that had a lot of quilting done (just like a like) but by hand - OMG amazing - how many hours that much have taken.  The detail in the feather wreaths, the 1/4 in grid and the detail in the small amout of quilting on the applique them selves is gorgeious.  I also took a picture from the side, it was such a thin quilt, I"m not sure it even had any batting in it at all.
seriously amazing in person.  I was actually more moved by this one than George Washington's

Amazing quilt

you know everything I know about this quilt now

Look how thin, it's almost lihe there is no batting at all

I can't even imagine how long this would take by hand.  I know it would take me a long time on the long arm!

Hope every one has a great holiday weekend, we saw the National Symphony Orchestra on the white house lawn last night which was amazing and heading over to Arlington National Cemetery to watch the changing of the gourd.  This is a great place to be for Memorial Day

Comfort quilt kinda of weekend

Alright, not any piecing going on, but April sure got a work out with all the frame quilting!!  First up are a couple of quilts for a woman in our area  that takes in foster kids.  She likes to give all the kids blankets. Right now she has a couple of boys.  I pieced the jelly roll quilts and Tom quilted, he did a great job didn't he???

Here's one of the H2H quilts - I had a set of fat quarters and this is quilt 2 of three that came from the fat quarters.  I've had this one done for a while now.  I've used it once or twice watching tv.  It has poly down batting in it.  I've always thought that I was a cotton batting kinda girl, but I gotta say, this light warm batting may be making me change my mind.  I love the lightness of it and it's really warm.

The last quilt on the frame is Lily Patch Quilts.  Kim won the giveaway for quilting, she wanted feathers.  Ya, right, of course I LOVE feathers!!!  I love scrappy quilts, there were so many wonderful fabrics.  I kept looking at them thinking that so many individual fabrics were my favorites.  Really, I think it's the way all of them fit together as a whole that just amazes me.  Loved this one.
On the frame one last border to go!

Left overs out side, colors are fairly accurate  - it was a bit breezy and it's a big quilt!!

DWM - Labyrinth quilting

Most quilting this weekend.  Last weekend I finished quilting the larger version of Summer in the Park Tube Quilt.  I think I may be over my tube quilt phase, well at least until I build up another stash of 2.5 in strips.
