Friday Finish!!

I’m so excited, look what came today form #honestfabric ! I designed this for my husband and just haven’t been able to finish (started in 2013) I printed my design from eq7 and got it printed with custom printing at honest fabric. I can’t wait to quilt this!   Love when there's no piecing!!

It's that time of year again - 100 Quilts for Kids

Ok I think have perfected the art of procrastination.  I wanted so badly to start Common Bride.  I have the pattern, have the fabrics laying out nice and neatly on in a sew room that had scraps under control thanks to  Mission Scrap Attack.  But I'm afraid, I'm scared, I'm not quite but almost terrified of starting this absolutely wonderfully beautiful quilt.  I will go to drastic measures to not start it. Such as curved piecing.  Yep I got 25 more blocks on Center of My Universe.  I like how it's looking   Seriously curved piecing has nothing on Y seams - yes the dreaded *Y-Seam*.  I really need to learn how to to do them.

 And then I got bored with the curved piecing, ya can only do so much with that.  I still have 50 blocks to go....but hey I'm 25 closer than where I was before :)  And then I saw that it's time again for 100 Quilts for Kids.  I LOVE making kid quilts.  They aren't too big, they're bright and cheery  - and then keep me from starting Common Bride.   So out came all the strings I have .  I huge tub full.  I made 8 giant 18 inch blocks and you can't even tell there are any missing.   Funny I like the Boy quilt and my husband likes the girl quilt.  Either way, plenty more strings so we'll have at least a couple more boy quilts and a couple more girl quilts.  I may be able to get 6 out of the strings and 4 charm packs I found laying around.  Maybe more.  All I know is that those 18 inch blocks didn't use up nearly enough strings.

I love sewing vacation days!!

I took a day off on Friday so I could sew all day long, and I did.  It was a slow undecided day but once I got rolling there was no stopping me.  I finished the jelly roll quilt.  I had some new thread I wanted to try and I seriously LOVE it.  I had been using Superior So Fine on top and was perfectly happy with that. But I saw a number of people were really happy with Glide. First off, the impression is awesome even before a stitch is made simply because of price.  Almost twice as much for almost half the price, my budget loves that :)  But the real test was on a quilt.  My machine loved it, the tension was great.  I can't wait to try it on a quilt that has a lot of quilting.  So this one is going in the pile for gifts or donations.  It was one of 4 scrap attack quilts I told myself I had to finish before I start a new project!  I really want to learn how to do hook feathers, I think they just add a different dimension over regular feathers.  Not too bad for the first shot at it.  I did an all over hook feather quilting on this one.

Paper piecing was the story of the day.  I finally found some of the red in "Center of My Universe" so that came out and I have all the pieces for 25 more blocks paper pieced.  Just need to get them sewn together.  Maybe I'll have an update on Monday if I can get any more quilting in this weekend.

Center of My Universe

I didn't post design wall Monday cuz the weekend just got away from me.  We went out to IN to celebrate Father's day and 2 B-days - my it was a party weekend!!  But on the way to and from I got some hexies done.  No, idea what this is going to look like in the end but the next round will be purple and gold.

DWM and what I did on my summer vacation

It's good to be back and sleeping in my own bed :)  A little bit of sewing on the plane.  They didn't take my scissors :)  I did have some pre-cut lengths of thread just in case I needed a plan B.  I got a couple more diamonds done, almost have a full star.

And before I left I was able to get some paper piecing done 

But that's all the sewing I did because I was busy doing this - yep that's me way up there.  My oldest grandson went first, how could I not go after he went? 

And I was busy watching this - how beautiful - we had a great time at Key West

Whooping it up on Friday

All my H2H quilts are washed and ready to be shipped out on Saturday!  So I've just been playing now that I got those done.  I made a four more NYBs for Center of my universe (the EQ7 file and a picture can be found here).  Here's the center (blocks not sewn together yet)

And I was pretty excited when I saw that.  I had to see how the stars were going to look, and I liked those to!!  Made me want to get busy and start whipping up a gazillion NYBs :)  Well I'll get them done sooner or later, I only have 84 more to go :) Yep, long term project.  But it's fun to play.

And will ya look at what I found in my sewing room when I got home from work, what a sweetheart my husband is :)  He thinks I'm in love with jelly rolls because of the incredible binge I went on earlier this year, what a sweetheart.  He even knows to check the bargin basket and picked up a couple of fat quarters out of there.   So now I have the day off today and I'm just gonna play in the sewing room before the kids get here for the weekend.   Do I make some more of those NYBs or do I play that yummy jelly roll, it's good to have choices :)

What a weekend!!  Daughter number 2 graduated with a Master's degree this weekend,  Little Baby Smiles is just so super proud of his Mama :)

FNSI was Friday which also coincided with Cyperquilters Twister weekend. So guess what I did, yep I twisted the night away :)  Daughter #4 needed a baby girl quilt for a shower coming up, here's what she's getting.  I did free had half swirly feathers in each leg of the pinwheel.  I love free hand quilting. So fun.
