It's that time again. Amy's Creative side is hosting the Spring Bloggers Quilt festival. Amy has created this virtual quilt show to coincide with Quilt Market in the spring and fall of each year. For those of us unable to go to Quilt Market, it gives us a wonderful opportunity to share and be inspired by other's quilts. I encourage you to hop over to Amy's site and submit a quilt of your own, and then make sure you take a look all all the incredible quilts that are linked!
My entry for the Spring Quilt Festival is a quilt I made for my newest grandson (Mr. Smiles). Yep it's the one in my header. My daughter worked on this project with me and it's really all her idea. Last Mother's day we went to Quiltology in Chicago and she feel in love with some owl fabric. Well guess what the theme was for the nursery. Yep, Owls. I had no idea what to do with owls. But hey we had months to figure it out :) She found an artist on line, Lee Arthaus, who had fabulous prints of Owls. We used those as the basis for baby Smiles quilt. The blocks are fused machine applique. I used a satin stitch and blanket stitch around all the applique. My daughter traced, fused and cut. I sewed and sewed. And here I have all the blocks in one post. I don't think I've done that yet. I hope you like the quilt that my daughter and I made, I think baby Smiles does.
