Orca Bay done, and look who's here!!

I'd like to welcome the sweet little Mr Smiles (Miles) who arrived on Friday morning, just in time for the weekend.  Isn't he adorable????  Goodness, he's just filled with all sorts of sweetness!  He's been here such a short amount of time and already he has so many people that love him! The quilt in my header, it's his :) Welcome Smiles!  Now that's something to Whoop about!!
I didn't get to go see him today cuz I have a fever, dang it!  But I did get to sew and I was able to finish my Orca Bay quilt. Ok so am I terrible?  I want to keep it and not give it to someone for a house warming gift.  Instead I want to give them Modern Mirrors, which I thought was really more appropriate for a young modern family.  I'm just trying to justify it aren't I??  Ok, here's the last look at Orca Bay.  I even tried a picture out in the snow.   I did an overall feather in the center and feathers in the small border all the way around.  Feather and swirls in the last border.  No marking anywhere!  Although  I should have marked the small border.

the back
And the Labyrinth top is together, now to plan the quilting for that one....

Linking up with Sarah, there's always something going on over there, lots of whoopin.

Linking up with Bonnie.   You REALLY have to stop there and see all the finished Orca Bay quilts, goodness they are gorgeous!!

Your Orca Bay is absolutely beautiful. I agree the modern quilt would be much more appropriate for a young family! LOL

  9. You will always hate yourself if you give your Orca Bay away because it means so much to you. Give the young couple a nice modern quilt and they will be delighted and so will you. The baby is a dearling!

  10. What a cutie! The quilt too! (I'd have justified keeping Orca to all and sundry..... you've really done a good job on the quilting). The colours are divine.

  11. Welcome to Smiles! I really like your colors on Orca. I also used green too but mines looks different (besides not quilted yet) than yours. Take a look when you can.

  23. I love the colors in your Orca Bay, it's so fun to see a quilt in so many different colors. Your quilting is beautiful and I agree with many of your other commenters in that no one will love it as much as you. Since you have another appropriate quilt ready I'm sure they will love it.
    Congrats on beautiful baby.

Your OB is gorgeous too! I love the colors! Awesome job on the quilting!

  25. Oh, your Orca Bay quilt is absolutely gorgeous. Blue and green is one of my favorite combinations and I've been wondering about that combo for OB. Yours is the first one I've seen, and I'm blown away! Just gorgeous. Love the scrappy fabrics you chose too. Your quilting is exquisite. Honestly, I think you should keep it. Who knows if that young couple could ever appreciate it enough? How would you feel if you saw them using it to pack around their furniture when they move? Or thrown on the wet ground for a concert? Don't know they will do that, but might if they don't have appreciation for such handwork. Oh, keep it. And that baby is so beautiful too! Hope you get well soon so you can get you some "fat sugar"! (That's what my father called it when he needed to get his "baby fix" with a quick visit and holding of the grandbaby.)

  27. Congratulations! Such a cutie!

I think Modern Mirrors is definitely a better fit for a young hip couple. Your Orca Bay is stunning. The only way I would ever part with a quilt like that would be ......um.....never!

  28. OB is just beautiful! The colorway, the quilting, the back. And Smiles/Miles is beautiful, too--congratulations to your whole family.

If the couple would truly appreciate OB, then give it to them...but if the other quilt would satisfy them, I'd give that.

  29. The new baby is precious! I love his quilt!
Your orca bay is gorgeous too. I think it would be fine to keep it. I made a very simple modern quilt for my family's gift exchange and everyone "fought" over it. I think you deserve to keep the one you worked so hard on.

  30. Sue, the owl quilt you made for your grandson, is it a pattern you designed or was it designed by someone else? I would like to have this pattern. Could you share the information with me?
