Bloggers Quilt Festival Fall 2013

Yippee!!! So my entry this fall is a very special quilt for two very special people.  It's a wedding quilt for my nephew and his beautiful bride!  I knew I wanted something special for them and I wanted it to be a tad bit more modern than traditional.  These two fit together so perfectly that I knew Labyrinth was the quilt for them.  I love how the squares fit inside each other.  Each having their own different aspects and able to stand alone completely but when seen together, they highlight and strengthen each other.  That's just like the happy couple.

And here is their quilt.  This is the first quilt that I used a ruler on, so I went a little crazy, and hey they've  have been known to do that from time to time as well.  I put a different design on each square but tried to keep some things in common through out, the 1/4 in edge with pebble.  A unifying aspect, appropriate for a wedding quilt huh?

Swooning over a finish

I did it!!!  I FINALLY finished the gigantic Swoon Quilt.  I had the rows all sewn together just needed to sew the rows together.  And goodness there are only four.  But I really don't like sewing rows together.  Not sure why, but it's my least favorite thing of all.  Now, these are some long rows mind you, 106 inches long.  But it's done now and I'm going to quilt this baby like crazy!  I'm really trying to decide if I need to add another 2 inch border.  I want this on my bed and I know it's going to lose some in the quilting process.  But how much?   I laid it on the bed and I think I have 2 inches to play with on each side.  I know I should but man, that's like adding another 4 rows.  Look how long it took me to get these four rows together.

I made some progress on my budding 9 patch as well. I'm really liking how this is turning out.

Design Wall Monday - Common Bride Update

All the applique is sewn down.  Just need 7 more of those 8 pointed stars and I can finish that last part up before moving to the next.  I was starting to day dream about how I'm gonna quilt this one when it's done.

Virtual Design Wall Monday

Yep that's right to go with all the virtual sewing I did this weekend :)

Cyber quilters (yahoo group) are having a blooming nine patch QAL.  I've had this set of 1 yard cuts Quiltcon fabrics that have just been waiting to for the right moment, and I think this is there time.

Here's the top 3 runners although the last one really isn't in the running as I'd have to get more fabric and I'm just not in the mood for that.  Uh oh did I say that out loud???? Help something must be wrong if I'm not in the mood to buy fabric.

#1 choice, I think I might move it a bit more off center

Making a little progress, still not sold on the layout of this next round which is why I haven't sewn any of the pieces to the center.  I keep hoping that some brilliant brainstorm will happen, but so far not even a brain sprinkle.  My brain is in an awful drought :)  Linking up with Hexie Friday stop by and see what everyone else is doing with hexies.
