RRCB Part 5 - should I change the constant color?

I finally finished all my Christmas sewing and started on the 600 HSTs for RRCB.  I have about 100 sewed and ironed.  I have a deep red, med to dark blues and green as my colors.  I was torn between a brown and gold for the constant and chose the gold to brighten things up.  But my neutrals (the few I have left) are on the darker tan side.  Do you think the Gold will work?  I'm worried there isn't enough contrast between the neutrals and constant to really stand out.  Should I switch to the brown for constant?

  1. I think you are better with the gold. I think they are going to be sawtooth on the other pieces and your brown will be too busy with them. Hunt up some other lights - old shirts, sheets, pillow cases - but stay with the gold.

  3. I think your gold will work fine. There will be enough contrast.

  4. I think your gold looks good. I used too light a gold in my Iowa (Carolina) Christmas, and it still turned out pretty, but yours is nice and dark and should be fine IMHO.

  6. I agree, the gold is looking very good with the neutrals that I can see. Perhaps I am partial to the gold, as that is my also my chosen constant color. I did change my gold to one that is a bit darker than the one I originally chose and is shown in my fabric photo in the yahoo photo album. I say, "Go for the GOLD!!"
